“The Earth’s Wild Bones Feel Like Home” Heirloom Collection

"Listen to the Whispering Wind" Statement Weaving
$800.00

“Listen to the Whispering Wind” woven wall hanging was created with Pendleton Wool, handspun art yarn, sari silk, locally dyed wool, velvet, wool roving, cotton frizz ribbon and recycled cotton cord. The driftwood was ethically and legally foraged from Lake Superior in Northern Minnesota. There is a small cherry wood tag, signed Lionheart Canyon, sewn onto the back of the weaving as the artist’s signature.

This is considered a textural statement wall hanging, perfect for displaying over a couch or bed along with other pieces of artwork. Recommended display is with gallery lighting or a spotlight, to ensure the color story is shining any time of day.

Payment plan available via Afterpay at checkout. Free local pick up in Omaha, NE is available.

Handwoven on a wooden frame loom by artist Kate Laing, 2025. Collected artwork will be wrapped neatly in paper and tied with twine, and packaged safely to travel to your doorstep.

MEASUREMENT INFORMATION:

  • 22” wide x 28” long — the width and length of the woven body and fringe.

  • 27” wide x 36” long — the width of the wood, and the length of where the nail will be to the farthest tip of fringe.

    • Each piece is handwoven with diverse fibers that embody sustainability and nostalgia. Sari silk, handspun art yarn, chiffon ribbon, recycled cotton cord, torn velvet, vintage yarn, locally dyed wool, upcycled fabric and more.

    • Weavings are sewed onto ethically foraged branches or driftwood, bringing an element of nature into the work.

    • The fibers often seem to have a mind of their own, and I rarely reproduce my weavings. The nature of fibers and the artist’s hand ensure each weaving is one of a kind. I can do custom work inspired by a previously made piece, carrying a similar energy without being a mirrored reproduction.

    • All works are handwoven with care by artist Kate Laing in her cozy Omaha, Nebraska home studio.

I’m kate laing, and I’m so glad you ventured down the trail.

I’m inspired by the wildness of nature and the ever-changing beauty of our earth, a constant source of wonder. As a collector of fibers, sticks, and stories…

I have spent nearly a decade weaving a narrative of heirloom quality fiber art, the beauty of nature, and the Lionheart community.

Currently based in Omaha, Nebraska, I am originally from Arizona and continue to feel a connection to the vast landscapes of the American Southwest.

Someday I would love for Lionheart Canyon to be a real place in the desert for creative minds to gather. In the meantime, this is a space for those of us who crave exploration… and still desire to return to a cozy home at day’s end.

  • I believe in pricing artwork at the value decided by the artist — taking into account more than a decade of artistic experience, the cost of heirloom quality fibers, and more. I also firmly believe that artwork should be accessible and attainable to anybody, which is why I offer payment plans via AfterPay on all orders. If there is a piece of artwork that truly speaks to you, I want to make it possible for you to collect it.

Free local pick up is available for Omaha, NE collectors. Please email me at kate@lionheartcanyonstudio.com with any questions!
